JMSY's Wedding
Saturday 29 September 2007

What a way to end my sem break. We were invited to a really nice and simple wedding. The couple were friends of my bf. Woke up real early to prepare ourselves for the church ceremony. We arrived at the church at about 910am and while we were still waiting for the other guests to arrive, I took some pics of the catholic church.

The ceremony begin at 10am sharp. The bride was lead by her father and as you can see here, she is being given away by her dad to her husband to be. It was really warm and lovely.

Vows were taken and promises exchange. They were then pronounce husband and wife. The bride tear while she was reading her vows to the groom. Next thing you know, most of the ladies started crying and tearing. It was a simple ceremony and the couple took photos with their families and friends outside the church. It was freezing and the wind was strong too. So we were all shivering while getting our pics taken.

After the church ceremony, we head down to their reception at South Yarra. I really love this cozy little place. Simple design but with a touch of elegance. The couple kept the wedding simple and there were only 7 tables around the small ballroom serving a 3 course meal. Food was great and we all had fun as well. (Mainly playing tricks on the groom. hahahaha)

After the lunch, they held the traditional tea ceremony session to pay their respects to the elderly. Let me just say that it was such a touching moment that most of the ladies and even some men starting crying. Especially the bride's mum. She couldn't hold her tears any longer when her daughter serve her the tea, she was crying and drinking at the same time. I guess its just a heart felt moment when you see your little baby all grown up and stepping into another phrase of their life.

While waiting for the dessert, we were playing around with the camera again. XD took this pic for us.

Melbourne zoo
Friday 28 September 2007

Before the sem break, kit say he wanna go to the zoo. So, we met up today together with another classmate and set out for the Melbourne Zoo which is about 15 mins tram ride away from the city. The weather wasn't good and it was raining and windy most of the time. It was still worth the trip because most of the animals we see today are pretty active unlike the usual ones that we see in other zoos. We were met by the lions the minute we enter the zoo.

We saw many animals along the way like seals, tigers, birds and we saw these little fellows huddling together trying to stay warm because its really quite cold today. Then, the zoo keeper came and it was feeding time. They rush towards the food and you see them all in action. It was quite a sight.

I was so happy to enter this room. Firstly, it was warm as butterflies need a rather warm place to survive. Secondly, i get to see so many different species of butterflies flying all around me. I think everyone knows i'm crazy about them. And you could practically touch them and take pictures that are really really close up.

There were also boxes that held caterpillars munching their life away at these fresh green leaves. Can you find the caterpillar in the pic below?

Isn't mother nature amazing. Wrapping themselves up in a cocoon, transforming into something that beautiful. Remember how we used to study the life cycle of a frog and butterfly when we were in Primary 3 or 4.

The giraffes were extremely active. They were running around and eating and drinking. The one on the right is a male giraffe and the one of the left is either his young or a female, not too sure. It was really fun to see them being so active. We continue our journey to explore more places and see more animals before we left for home. It was really nice to go out with my classmates to get to know them better.

Royal Melbourne Show
Thursday 27 September 2007

I had so much fun today! Went to the Royal Melbourne Show 2007. This is a yearly event that is held in Spring. Its been so long since i've seen a carnival thats so big. There were so many things to see, so many games to participate in etc. So, what are you waiting for?!
Welcome to the Royal Melbourne Show!

The weather was perfect. Sunny, clear blue sky. After buying the tickets, we head straight into the show. We were welcome by lots of games stalls, adrenaline pumping rides, snacks and food stalls and there were just so many people.

Leaving behind the excitement and noises, we walked straight into the Animal Nursery & Discovery Farm. In here, I saw one of the most amazing thing. An ewe giving birth to a lamb!! And i saw the entire process on how the ewe was experiencing contraction to pushing the lamb out into this world and the first step taken by the lamb. I guess many people might have seen it on Discovery channel but nothing beats seeing it right happening in front of your eyes. It's simply amazing.

Then, we move on to see this really huge ma ma pig, giving her piglets a nice lunch. I didn't know pigs can be this big but trust me, this picture below just don't do justice to her. Do you know that, each piglet will only suckle on one individual teat which in a way, belongs to them. So, they will not have to fight for the milk.

Time for some dog shows. These dogs are just so adorable and beautiful. You can also give them a pat when the trainer bring them closer to the public. I'm missing my dog so so so much...

Because there has been this Equine Flu going around in Australia, horses were 'ban' from the show this year. (Well, because the flu only affect horses.) But, we gotta see bulls and cows. Check out the horn on this bull. There are so many different species of cattle, I got so confuse. There was also a competition where they will choose the best bull and cow but I'm not sure what are the judging criteria.

Before we left the show, i got a chance to grab 2 showbags. There are lots of these showbags for sale. Some are for kids, some for the ladies and a couple for men. These bags can be as cheap as a dollar or as expensive as $100. I got one from the Girlfriend mag and the other from the New Woman mag. There are so many goodies in each bag and i think you can see from the pic below. These are the items that i want which means there were more cause the rest i just left them somewhere else. Each bag was bout 15-20 bucks but i get magazines, moisturizers, slippers, nail polish, vouchers, sunglasses, a butterfly bag (: and many more.

Stardust
Tuesday 25 September 2007

Anyone in the mood for some fantasy? Try catching the new movie on the big screen 'Stardust'. Its been sometime since i saw Michelle Pfeiffer and Claire Danes and I got to say, I admire Michelle Pfeiffer's courage to take up this role as a really old and ugly witch. A story about love, and the good vs the evil. And I gotta give credits to the dead princes cause they definitely brought much laughter to the show. Oh and to all my family and friends 中秋节快乐!

BBQ for Autumn Festival Celebration
Monday 24 September 2007

It's sem break for us this week. The Autumn Festival is tomorrow but my classmates decided to celebrate it a day earlier. We head out to the Yarra River for some BBQ. There were tons of food and we had so much fun. I got to say, the bbq facilities were really good because they uses hotplate and all you need to do is to press a button and the gas will come on and you are ready to cook. Even our classmate from India also join in the celebration.

We were the 2nd batch of people to reach the bbq spot. Some of them were already eating and enjoying the cooking. Check out Kit at the right hand side of the pic below. He look like he's going to kill me.. hahahahaha..

Some of them brought their partners along and i got to make friends with my friend's friend too. Actually, celebrating the Autumn festival with bbq is a very Taiwanese style. It was really good to hang out with my classmates outside classes cause everyone seems to be so much nicer and less stress up.

Paint ball
Sunday 23 September 2007

I wanted to blog this out yesterday but the internet was not working. Went for some paint ball action with my bf and his friends. We arrived at Coldstream at about 12 after an hour and a half drive. The weather was nice and warm for some outdoor fun.

After paying and changing into out 'combat' uniform, we were ready for some action. This was also the first time that i met XD's gf. We are now waiting for the referee to give us safety instructions and the rules for the game. It actually quite simple. We separated ourselves into 2 groups and we fight for a flag and whoever gets it will win. (btw, i'm not that short. We are all standing on uneven ground)

Almost getting ready for our battle, we have to wear the mask at all times unless the referee says its safe to take it off. They were very strict about safety and if you don't listen to them, they will just simply kick you out of the game. I look like a ninja turtle cause the vest they gave to us (for protection) was too large for my size so it look like i was carry a shell with me all the time. Very ugly.

We had loads of fun and of course my fair share of being hit. Now, i've got this really big bruise on my left arm and it really hurt. It would have been better if we know all the folks in the game cause we were pair up with another group whom were total stranger. But it was still very enjoyable.

Some Bitch!
Wednesday 19 September 2007

I was at the store today trying to get some stockings. There were many brands and designs so it was quite difficult to choose. Most of the stockings were pack in individual boxes and there were sign indicated that we should open up the boxes to see the content.

I'm fine with that but like always, there were several boxes that were already opened before and left hanging on the shelves. I saw this particular one that I'm interested and there was a box that was already open. So, i took the one THAT WAS ALREADY OPEN and take a look at it and feel the material of the stockings. It wasn't what i want so i put it back.

Here comes the bitch! She said, and I quote 'Its not very nice to leave it like that, isnt it'. Well, I'm not going to let her off, so i said 'Well, I didn't open it in the first place. It was ALREADY OPENED!'

What has is got to do with her? If she wants to accuse me of something at least get the facts right. I didn't even open the box in the first place. And who the hell she think she is? Some kinda saint? I need a place to vent out cause I really hate it when people malign me. If i did something wrong, i'm ok if you tell me off. But she jump to conclusion and didn't even get the facts right. I gotta a suggestion for her. Why don't she stand there the entire day and see who are the ones who goes around opening up the new boxes and maybe this job suits her even better. Bitch!

Ratatouille
Tuesday 18 September 2007

I have waited for quite some time for this show to come on the big screen because it has been advertising for a long time. I guess many of you in Singapore would have caught it. A rat name Remy has a very strong sense of taste and smell. He wants to be a chef but it was impossible, as we all know how much human hated them. Finally, by chance he went to Paris and met this guy, Linguine, who was somewhat a loser. And both of them created a whirl in the kitchen of one of the most famous restaurant in Paris.

Very funny and warm at times. I especially love the part when the food critic, Ego, ate the Ratatouille and the look on his face. By the way, Ratatouille is a vegetable dish from Southern France.

iSketch

Recently, I have been pretty hook up onto this game called, iSketch. Its an online game where you can join into rooms or form your own with your friends and guess a word from a drawing. Its exactly the same as Win, Loss or Draw, a tv show that was shown ages ago.

Its really fun but sometimes you will meet weirdos but you can just simply ignore them. It enriches your spelling and artistic talent. hahahaha... Just go into www.isketch.net and simply register a nick and you are ready to go.

Mt Dandenong
Saturday 15 September 2007

I have been looking forward to this day for quite sometime. Simply because I wanted to relax and enjoyed myself for a weekend up in the mountains. After a light breakfast, we set out for Mt Dandenong seeking for the famous Miss Marples scones.

After driving for an hour, we arrived at our destination. The little tea house was packed to the brim with more customers pouring in every minute. But we only waited for bout 10 mins before they had a table set for us. I really love the shop design because it reminds me of those old fashioned tea room where we only get to see in the black and white movies.

While waiting for the food to arrive, it was time for our cameras to get busy. See this pic below. Her photos can be found on all the walls around the shop and of course, my best guess is that she is Miss Marples.

Ta da!! Here comes the food. We ordered the famous Devonshire scones and a chicken pie. The scones came with home-made jam and whipped cream that was so delicious I just have to tell myself to make an extra trip to the gym. If anyone of you have been to the English Rose cafe at Holland V and you like the scones there, let me tell you, this is even better!

The pie was rather special as well because instead of the usual crusty top that we find in most pies, this one is cover with a generous serving of whipped potatoes. Yummy!!
If you take a close look at the picture, you can see that the table cloth has flower prints on them. Very old fashioned, very nice.

After all those mouth watering food went into our stomach, it was time for a little walk. Helps with the digestion. There were many shops around this little place and many were design like cottages. We went into a sweet shop and I bought many toffees and sweets cause I want to try all the unique flavors. hehe...

If any one of you grew up with a doll house, you will love this exhibit. Its a really big doll house with many rooms in different design. This is one of the rooms. Don't they look cute??

We drove further up to the top of the mountain for some nice scenery. It was so beautiful to see Melbourne from the mountains (partly because the weather was fantastic today). Most of the photos were taken with a digi cam cause my phone camera can't capture the view and the photos in the cam can't be loaded up cause my dearest bf needs to find out where he has (mis)place the cable (???!!!)
Anyway, check out these purple flowers. Cute and small. They look like grapes if you see them from far.

Do you call this art?
Thursday 13 September 2007

Was walking to school today when i saw this 'thing' on one of a building wall. Sorry guys, i know the picture is small so you might not be able to see what it is and this is the best i can do. Its actually like lots of hammocks being hung on the wall. Inside each net/hammock there is a mannequin.

I have no idea who hung it up and what exactly its the purpose. In fact, it looks kinda eerie cause its like a human being cramp inside a net. But it did attract lotsa of attention for whatever its trying to show or advertise.

Owl Heroes??
Sunday 9 September 2007

Recently, there have been news about sightings of an endangered species of owl around the park near my place. Apparently, this kind of owl is call the 'Powerful Owl', i guess mainly due to their size - The Powerful Owl is Australia's largest, with males attaining a height of up to 65cm and a wingspan up to 1.35 meters.

And a very lame guy told me this: "Maybe we can try finding the owl in the garden. Who knows when we found it, the owl might teach me the most ultimate Kung Fu techniques?!"

Overdose of Condor Heroes??

Yum Cha again...

Well, its the weekend again! Though it should be a time to relax after a long week but i don't have such privileges with all the deadlines coming up. But, we still went out for some dim sum at Doncaster in noon. Dar had a friend who came over Melb from NZ for holiday. So, we (including lynette and another friend) met up with her and her bf for a yum cha session.

In the 21st century, you don't have to worry that you will be lost while driving on the roads. Because there something called the GPS (of course unless u have one of these, if not you still can rely on the traditional street directory)!! See, dar driving us to our destination while listening to the directions read out by the GPS. He's a very safe driver. Hehe...

I didn't took any pics of the food because it went into our stomach faster than a flash light. After a really full lunch, we headed home so that I can finish up my report which is due next week.

Oh, when we were at the market this morning, I just couldn't resist buying this bunch of white Gerberas. I don't usually fancy white flowers but i just love this bunch. Aren't they pretty, pure and nice?

Luciano Pavarotti 1935 - 2007
Thursday 6 September 2007

Its not a nice feeling when you turn on the tv and the headline news was the passing of one of the world's greatest tenor, Luciano Pavarotti. He was a great performer and though i might not know how to appreciate opera, you know it when someone's singing touch your heart.

My dad used to play his CDs in his car when i was still much younger. That was when i first heard his singing and sort of learn more about him as i grew up. I guess the world has just lost another great talent in the music and cultural arena.

"I think a life in music is a life beautifully spent and this is what I have devoted my life to". Luciano Pavarotti

Class Photo
Tuesday 4 September 2007

I'm so glad that one of the presentation is over. Was so stress out last night when we saw the video quality was really bad and things not going well. Thank God! Everything turn out fine and the presentation went really smoothly.

I was really happy that the lecturer say my presentation was really good and she enjoyed it. But good doesn't mean our team might have high score. She is known to be very strict, so i'm praying hard she will give us good grades.

After the presentation, we were suppose to have our class photo taken (but i didn't know bout it until the class ended). But luckily, groups that were presenting were very smartly dress and most of us were in suits. I think I have yet to post any of my friends/classmates pics in my blog. So here you go...

Some candid pics before the actual shoot. Both of them are my team mates and I got along pretty well with them since orientation. The one in center is Ashley and the other Colleen. Both are from Malaysia.

This one below is a group pic but with one of our team member missing. The girl in blond is an Aussie, Izabela. See me and Ashley in our 'power suit'. hahahahaha....

My classmates!! Well, our class is actually divided into 2 groups: one in the morning and another in the afternoon. I'm in the morning so these are the people in the same session. There are so many diverse culture and background in this whole group of people and we learn so much from each other. Btw, it was freezing while we were taking this pic but we had so much fun(Spring brings a lot of strong wind so it can be quite cold at times)

While we were having our class pic taken, there was this guy who was invited by some student union to perform. And he played so well but there wasn't much crowd listening to him as you can see from the empty chairs. So, the whole group of us and some other students gave our best support for him by giving the warmest round of applause after he finish a song.

Very stress up NOW!!
Monday 3 September 2007

Video quality is really really bad.. can't show anyone.
Try to call the person doing it, but she didnt answer the phone..
still have to rehearse for tomorrow's presentation..
Hate the lecturer for tomorrow since she is such a pain in the axx..

Don't mean to curse but i need a place to vent out my frustration and anger and stress..
Damn bloody stress now!!!

Shopping Time
Sunday 2 September 2007

I guess nothing beats going out to shop to get the stress out of you. Seasons are changing, so are the clothes. So, there was a warehouse sale going on at the Melbourne Exhibition Center. Prices were slashed and some were even more than 50% cheaper.

I really wanted to get some summer dresses or something for the spring and summer season. But, i was a little disappointed when i arrived at my shopping destination. Not really my style and there weren't many dresses. But, i did bought an Aber jacket. Really nice, warm and comfy.
