Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs
Monday 19 October 2009

Have not been to the movies for quite some time and it seems there's really nothing much interesting on the big screen these days except for this: Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs.

Was quite disappointed with it even though I didn't had much of an expectation in the first place. Not sure was it the graphics or the story. It was suppose to be pretty meaningful but i think it got boring half way through the movie and sort of lost me.

Our First Wedding Anniversary
Thursday 15 October 2009

Dar gave me a little surprise today. Late in the afternoon, he msn me to ask if i were interested to try out some french cuisine for dinner. Was wondering what he has up his sleeves and anyway, who could say no to good food. So, we make reservation at this place called 'Vanilla Pod' at Mandai. It was recommended by one of dar's friend.

It wasn't really french cuisine after I saw what was offer on the menu but the food do look good though. We started out with some warm bread and vinegear and a Aragula Salad, made from rockets, tomatoes, pine nuts and cheese.

It was then followed by our main course. I choose to have the Quail. Very tender and yummy.

Dar wanted something more filling, so he ordered the Angus steak. I know the pic doesn't make it look that appetizing but its really pretty good. And its really more for the gentlemen as the portion is a little too big for a lady to finish.

We ended our dinner with 2 very delicious desserts. Home made Tiramisu and Warm Chocolate Lava cake. We were so eager to try out the Tiramisu that I totally forgot to take a pic.
I would say the tiramisu that I had in Italy were really much much better (what do you expect, tiramisu was born in Italy).
I prefer the warm choc cake though. Rich, sweet and very fulfilling.

And here's my man, after a satisfying meal. Turn out, we both wanted to do something romantic this week because its our first year wedding anniversary this Sunday (we prefer to go by our ROM date). But dar, went ahead to suggest to have this dinner together this evening and maybe we could do something else on Sunday.

Am so glad that I found you. I love my darling!

Offering your seat in public transport
Wednesday 14 October 2009

I know this is like a super boring and out-of-date issue that has been over-debated, discussed and talk about for like since there was the exsistance of public transport.
But the reason why I want to blog this out is not because I want a debate but rather my personal views and observations, especially for the past 8+ months.

Ever since I got pregnant, people has been asking me so has anyone been giving up their seat for me when I'm on the train or bus. Well, of course right in the beginning, no one will do that since no one knew I was pregnant since the belly was not showing. Unfortunately, even though its pretty obvious now that my belly is huge, I'm rather invisible to many. I'm definately not asking or begging for anyone to show pity or give up their seat if they are unwilling to do so. It's just a reflection of how ungracious our society is. There have been numorous campaigns after campaigns to remind and educate people but nothing seems to change.

The most disappointing fact is that never for once, and I have to emphasize, never once did a student ever gave up or offer his or her seat for me during this period. Aunties, uncles, OLs and sometimes even foreign workers will be nice enough to offer their seat. But i'm utterly disappointed with students. These people are suppose to be the future for our country but they don't seem to understand the concept of graciousness. Don't schools teach moral education anymore? Is this a problem with our education system or it's the upbringing of the children that is causing them to be self-centered, selfish and inconsiderate?

I have seen on forums what people have said about this issue. They argued that why should they give up or offer their seat to pregnant women, old aged, handicapped or people with young kids when they themselves have paid the same fare and deserve the seat. Although thats true, but thats when you distinguished yourself as someone with higher moral standards than others. There are reasons why these people need the seat more than a normal person and shouldn't you be glad that you are an abled person who has the ability to offer and give more than taking.

I count myself to be lucky that being pregnant is only a temporary thing and in future I can offer others the seat or choose not to take up a seat even if there is one available. Have you ever wonder how old aged or handicapped people going to cope when no one offer their seat? How can our society take a turn to be more gracious?

Drama
Monday 12 October 2009

It's as though there is not enough drama at work.
Finally, the event came to an end and last week, I could catch up with all those back log at work and slow down the work pace.
But as you know, when it rains, it pours. When bad things happen, they happen all at once. As though life is testing your limits and to see how much you can manage before you finally breakdown.

Life's short, but i feel like i'm living someone else's life. I'm living the way certain people wants me to live.
hai.... i really miss my schooling days when all that matters are exams and grades.

This is the 21st century, but didn't know dictatorship still exists.
I always felt that respect should be earn, and not by forcing people to respect you.
So sick and tired of all the drama.
