Angels and Demons
Thursday 21 May 2009

This was the second Dan Brown book that I read, after Da Vinci code. It was so long ago that I don't really remember what is was all about.
Naturally, when the movie was out I have to catch it. Watch it with dar last Friday.

All in all, pretty good. Full of actions and the usual 'solve this code and save this person' adventure that Dan Brown is so famous for. I believe me and dar would have enjoy this movie much more than most viewrs because a very large part of the movie was film in Rome, Italy. Me and dar went there for our honeymoon, so we were like 'oh, we been there before', 'thats the blah blah piazza' and at one of the scene where they found the last preferiti, i found it really familiar but just can't recall where exactly it was in Rome until dar told me thats where we had our first Gelato with the many road side stall selling fake Guccis and Pradas.
Hahaha...

Bosses
Tuesday 19 May 2009

I woke up this morning and thought of a rather interesting topic that I would love to post onto my blog. People, you might have met these bosses before.

I graduated from Uni in Year 2005 and i join the workforce RIGHT AFTER i graduate. (My last paper was on a Friday and I join my new firm on the following Monday). So since Yr 2005 till 2009, technically I should have work for about 4 years but then bearing in mind that I was away in Melb for a year to do my Master, so I have roughly 3 years of full-time work experience.

Well, I know thats not a lot comparing to the next 30 years of work life to come but up till today, I happen to have work under 3 kind of bosses that I would love to share with everyone. I know these bosses of mine do have a side of them that is nice and good. But then again, I think we are more interested in how 'bad' they are since I believed most of us actually can't stand our bosses. So here goes!

Boss 1
Cheap, Unappreciative and Workaholic
Well, thats how I will describe my first boss (I know some of my ex colleagues will be reading this entry but hey, i'm entitled to my own opinion). I was very underpaid when I join the firm but then as a fresh grad, I know I don't have much bargainning chip and afterall, I was eager to learn. Eventually, not being appreciate for what I have been contributing and the really long working hours became the last tipping point.

Boss 2
Control Freak & Mrs Gossip (with very bad breath)
Her motto: Just do what i tell you to, nothing more nothing less. On my first day of work, she gave me a piece of paper that listed all the house rules she has established for us - including no one is allowed to wear perfume or any scent when they come to work. Her reason - because the office is a confine environment. Naturally, i can't be bother with her.
Oh, and she will gossip about you behind your back with your other team mates. And yes, she gossip about everyone.

Boss 3
She thinks the world revolve around her
She thinks we are on 24/7 standby for her. She will call you, sms you anytime, anywhere she likes. She can call you on a Sunday to ask you to go back to the office just to get something for her. She will sms you at 3am in the morning on something that could have waited till a more decent hour. She will ask you to kick a big fuss to the hotel's staff because she lost her favourite black dress in one of their rooms (which she don't really remember was it Hotel A or Hotel B that she might have misplace the dress, or maybe it was hidden at the bottom of her luggage).

Hahahahaha...I hope everyone will enjoy this post. Some of you maybe unfortunate enough to have encounter this kind of bosses as well.

Shu Zhen & Roy's Wedding
Monday 18 May 2009

Was at Shuz and Roy's wedding at Raffles Town Club yesterday. We have know one another since our very first day when we started our secondary school life. She was sitting next to me and she was so shy that she didn't spoke to me the entire day (Haha..). Time flies, and here we are 13 years down the road, both of us married and beginning a new chapter of our life.

I was task to help out at the reception table. Me and dar took a pic together before the dinner begins. The lady below is Livi, one of her helpers at the wedding.

They had their solemnization before the dinner begins. After their pastor pronounce them man and wife, they ran out of the ballroom together so the MC can officially announce their re-entrance into the ballroom as Mr & Mrs Tan.

How could i not take a pic with one of my very good friend on her big day!

Mr & Mrs Ong with the newly wed, Mr & Mrs Tan......

Champagne pouring session after the couple's 2nd march in.

The very traditional 'Yum Seng' session with the family on stage together with the couple.

This was really cute. The brothers has a suggestion when we approach the last 'Yum Seng'. They wanted the couple to lock lips as long as everyone is still shouting 'Yum' and they can only part till we said 'Seng'. It made the crowd quite excited too and everyone was trying to prolong the 'Yum' portion.

They had a live band too. Courtesy from their church.

Zhen, wishing you a blissful and fulfilling life ahead and hope you guys enjoy your honeymoon!!

Kinder Surprise!
Thursday 14 May 2009

A month back, I was talking to a colleague about this egg shape chocolate I used to eat when I was a kid. Then she told me she has never seen it before nor tasted it as well. So we went on a hunting trip around our workplace to the different supermarkets, 7-11, provision shops etc to look for this egg shape chocolate called 'Kinder Surprise'. (Please see pic below)

I was so disappointed cause I just couldn't find it. Even when i visit those really old, provision shops I just can't find it. It brought back so much memories because these 'chocolate eggs' use to come in a packet of 3 and my mum will buy 1 packet and me and my bros will get 1 egg each. Everytime you open up the choc, a capsule will drop out of it and there will be this little toy or key chain or all sorts of little things kids will love.
Today, that colleague of mine told me her brother actually found it and gave 1 to her. I was so excited cause I want to know where he bought it. It was such a disappointment cause her brother's friend went to Greece and he bought it there. So sad!!!

Dinner at TCC - Velocity
Wednesday 13 May 2009

Met up with the girls at TCC @ Velocity for dinner last evening. Had a great session catching up on very important 'current affairs' and reminiscing the old days when all of us were still in ERC.

So many things have change since those days. Time flies and we are entering the 4th year since we first know one another.
It's been quite a journey together and I guess I left the company gaining much more than I expect.

Long weekend - Labour Day PH
Tuesday 5 May 2009

While waiting for Bec to send us the pics that we took last Friday at Sushi Teh, I shall update about my long weekend.
I have no pics to share, so I think you will need to use some imagination.

Fri - We tried to had a 'strategic' MJ session at AY's place. But i guess, our plan failed. We need to think of how to play it strategically next time when we are there k. Need some kind of Plan A or Plan B thingy. hahahhaha...
Then it was dinner at Sushi Teh at Thomson Plaza followed by coffee at StarBucks. I guess we just have endless to talk about.

Sat - Had lunch at the new E-Sarn. Its located at Pasir Panjang Road near to Pepys Road. Open by one of Dar's friend. My fav was the Fried Vermicelli with Prawns in Claypot. Yummy!!

Their main branch is actually located at 20 Sixth Avenue. Do give it a try if you are feel like having Thai.
